Develop a grounded meditative approach to supporting someone. Learn to stay present with yourself and for the another, working skilfully with projection, reactive patterns and authority dynamics, and support insight without imposing your own answers.
learn to hold the space in which another person can hear themselves clearly.
Part 2 of the OSHO® Zen Tarot Practitioner Training
from reading the cards to working with the person
Learning the OSHO Zen Tarot is one thing. Sitting opposite another person while they bring you a broken heart, a difficult decision, a family crisis or a question they desperately want answered is something else entirely. At this point, knowing the cards is not enough.
A client may arrive hoping you will tell them what will happen, what they should do, whether their relationship will survive or whether they are making the right choice. They may place enormous trust in you simply because you are holding the cards - and that creates responsibility.
Inner Alchemy Facilitator Training is the bridge between understanding the Tarot and learning how to work safely, sensitively and consciously with another person.
This is where you begin developing the counselling and facilitation skills that allow the OSHO Zen Tarot to become something much deeper than interpretation - not a way of giving someone answers, but a way of helping them hear their own answers.
-
When someone comes for a reading, the question they ask is rarely the whole story. Beneath it may be fear, disappointment, longing, anger, confusion, an old wound or simply a strong desire for life to be different from how it is now.
It is very easy for a Tarot reader to become absorbed in solving the problem. What does this card mean? What is going to happen? What should the client do?
But in a meditative reading, our attention begins to move somewhere else.
We become interested in how the person is relating to what is happening.
What happens in their body as they speak? Where do they become tense or relaxed? What are they trying desperately to hold onto? What are they unwilling to feel? Where are they repeating conditioned beliefs rather than speaking their truth? And what changes when they stop looking outside themselves for an answer and begin listening within.
This is where a Tarot reading can become genuinely transformative.
-
Most of us want to help at some point in our lives. When someone is distressed, we naturally want to reassure them, offer advice or find a way to make things better. As a reader, that impulse becomes even stronger because the client is specifically asking you for an answer.
One of the most important skills you will learn is how to recognise the difference between helping and supporting. Supporting does not mean taking responsibility for the client's life. It means helping them become more present, more aware and more able to contact their own experience.
Sometimes this may be as simple as slowing down. Taking a breath. Noticing what is happening in the body. Allowing a feeling to be there without immediately explaining it.
Or recognising that the story they have been telling themselves may not be the whole truth. You learn to stay alongside the person without climbing inside their problem with them.
-
The most important thing you bring to a reading is not your knowledge of Tarot.
It is your presence.
When you are grounded in yourself, you listen differently. You notice subtleties in the person's voice, body and energy. You are less likely to become anxious about giving a “good reading” or to second-guess what you are sensing. You also become more aware of what is happening within you.
Do you want the client to like you? Do you feel pressure to have an answer? Are you frightened of upsetting them? Do you secretly want them to follow your advice.
Are you becoming irritated because they keep insisting you have the answers? Or worried because they won’t utter a word?
These inner reactions are incredibly valuable. The aim is not to become a perfect reader who never reacts. It is to notice when you have left your own centre, and learn how to come back.
-
Tarot can open unexpected doors. A card may touch grief, anger, loneliness, shame, fear or an experience the client has barely spoken about before.
That means a reader needs more than intuition. You need to recognise when someone is able to stay present with what is arising, when they need more support, and when going deeper would simply overwhelm them.
During Inner Alchemy you will learn how to work with emotional expression, body awareness and basic trauma sensitivity.
You will explore how to recognise tension and relaxation, how to resource someone when an emotional becomes too much, and supporting the emotional process without forcing it or digging too deeply into it. Sometimes the most skilful thing you can do is go deeper. Sometimes the most skilful thing you can do is stop.
-
Tarot carries a peculiar kind of authority. People may assume that because you can read the cards, you can somehow see more clearly into their life than they can. That projection can feel surprisingly seductive.
It feels good to be listened to. It feels good when somebody says, “Wow, you're completely right!” But if the reader begins to believe that they know what is best for the client, the reading can quietly become like a parent–child or even a dependant relationship., taking the client further away from their own inner knowing
During the training, you will explore these authority dynamics that often arise between reader and client, including your own tendency to please, defend, rescue or take control.
What really helps is creating a much more equal meeting. Two adults sitting together. One person brings their life. One brings their presence and understanding of the Tarot, and together you explore what the cards bring to the surface. This way, the client always remains the authority on themselves.
-
Through experiential practice, meditation, and guided enquiry, you’ll develop skills in presence and embodied listening, working with emotion, asking questions without leading, recognising projection and resistance, supporting versus challenging, and emotional awareness. This ensures you are able to maintain healthy client–reader boundaries and stay free of the authority-trap, so that you’ll be able to truly support your client in integrating insights that arise into their everyday life.
The cards are part of the process, but the real art of reading lies in reading the client. It’s about how you meet the person sitting opposite you.
Presence & the Client–Reader Relationship
You’ll explore presence, listening, body awareness, communication, authority and projection, and learn how to recognise the subtle dynamics that arise the moment somebody asks you to read for them.
You’ll practise stepping out of the need to advise or perform and begin developing the confidence to simply meet the client where they are.
Core themes: presence, listening, the body, client expectations, reader authority, projection, boundaries, questioning and practice.
Emotion, Support & Transformation
Moving more deeply into emotional process.
You’ll learn how to recognise when a client needs support and when they may be open to challenge; how to work with desire, beliefs and emotional reactions without becoming caught in the story; and how to use the cards to support greater self-awareness rather than prediction or dependency.
We also introduce basic body/trauma awareness, resourcing and integration, so that you become more confident in meeting deeper parts without pushing someone beyond what they can safely hold.
Core themes: emotion, support and challenge, desire and attachment, resourcing, trauma awareness, integration.
In Inner Alchemy™, the cards were a mirror for your own inner world. In Inner Alchemy™ Facilitator Training, the mirror turns now towards the client. This training teaches you to stop staring at the cards long enough to really see the human being sitting in front of you.
You begin learning how to sit with their uncertainty without needing to remove it, how to listen without becoming lost in their story, and how to use the Tarot without taking away the very thing the OSHO® Zen Tarot is designed to awaken: the client’s own awareness.
Following this, you can continue on to complete the professional pathway in the final stage of training, where you’ll bring together reading the cards, reading the client and reading the tarot spread in OSHO® Zen Tarot Practitioner.
